Mysteries at the Green Barn

Snowcanoes (like volcanoes)

I spotted these weird looking features as I was taking wheelbarrow loads of chicken s#%* to the compost heap. They looked so odd, that I ran into the house, grabbed Ruth's camera and spent a few minutes pretending to be a photographer. I even lay down in the snow to capture this image. The next photo reveals the origin of these strange snow structures.

Bishop the Barn Cat walked across the snow here when the snow was about 5" deep. As the snow packed down to about 3" in the warm sun, the snow left little protrusions around each track.

The Shroud of Dansville

What in the world!? I baked another loaf of rustic bread and when I pulled the bread off the parchment paper, I saw this! What do you see in the paper? I would like you to study it and let me know what you see.

Garden Plans Coming Soon!

My next post will be about my garden plans. I received my first batch of seeds in the mail already and am planning a garden with raised beds, bean trellises, chicken-proofing, and other things to make it look inviting. I would love to hear about your garden plans.

Uh, the imprint of bread? No, no wait I see it, it's an alien! Quick call George Noory! A friend of mine's grandmother says that in regards to chicken s#%* it is the one time you actually can say the word because it is the sound it makes when you slip in it.

I think I see the devil holding a sceptre ... or maybe it's an old, hunched over Cupid!
I look forward to your gardening plans; I'll be gardening vicariously. I have on little raised bed for tomatoes, and I'd like to expand it and try to grow more, but I have neither time nor knowledge to make a go of it! :-(

The Venus of Willendorf, definitely!

Hmmm, King Tut? Definite mummyness there, I think.

lanny: Good old George! He is a Detroit boy, just like me. Although I haven't had the out of body experiences he has had, I have had out of my mind experiences. Your friend's Gma sounds like my kind of gal. I wonder what kind of chickens she raised?

Freaky things occuring in your part of the world.
As for the bread it looks alittle like a Woman looking down at a babe in arms???
Hmmm well that';s just what I see anyhoo...
But at the moment I am starving hungry for lunch and I see a loaf of bread in My kitchen and it's looking ike a Banquet dinner....lol!

laura: the devil or Cupid? I can see the devil, although I am still working on Cupid.

How about some pole beans to grow up your balcony?

Don said...

Sharon: That is hilarious! How did you ever think of that one?

Don said...

fullfreezer: I wonder if there is a curse involved? Mummies always have curses, and they walk really slowly.

Don said...

country cupcakes: are you saying Mother and Child? The loaf that made this impression is halfway banqueted.

I hope everyone you know is safe from the terrible fires that raged through your part of the world.

I see a monkey playing with it's long tail. How was the bread?!

Great snow tracks by the way! I found some this morning and I still don't know what made them!

I see....
I see......
a potato?

I got my seeds in the mail this week too!
Most of them I can't plant until spring (3 seasons away!!) but I have some mini cauliflowers, some onions and some borlotti beans I can sow now. Very exciting.
Can't wait to see what you got!

Looks like this week is muck out week eh Don?

For my special Birthday treat, I'm going to clean them out and give them a lovely warm makeover for their coop!

Careful you don't get problems - I know at our age laying in the snow can be almost DEADLY!

;)

I think your shroud looks like Peter O'Toole in 'Beckett' wrapped in an ermine-collared robe.

Your garden plans sound like our garden plans! Have you been peeping over my shoulder at my sketches? :)

I see a flip flop. :-) Pat/Texas

claire: the bread was good! it was different this time. the bubbles were all small. I think I over-kneaded. Oh well, I will knead somewhere in-between next week.

If you saw tracks in the snow, that means you were out in nature. Yea for you!
Were they big/little, cat/dog, domestic/wild, big foot?

Don said...

freefalling: pass the ketchup!

I can see a tater in there too.

Your seeds sound good. I have a long list of seeds and plants. Do you grow garlic? We have to plant that in Oct-Nov and I missed out on that!

Don said...

stiggy: a makeover? what are you going to do? I'll probably see it at your newly made-over blog.

The little roll in the snow was over-rated. I got wet, cold and a little crabby. However, I tossed the wet clothes in the laundry and put on my PJs.

I don't think I had the deadly problem,I'll let you know when that happens.

It's Elvis...I just know it is...you've found Elvis! Bless you Don!

I haven't read any other comments yet. I see a man with a full head of hair, kind of looking down at an angle.

Wait, wait! I can't stop laughing!

... sort of like reading tea leaves... definitely an Egyptian message coming through... I think it denotes the fall of the Ancient Egyptian Empire... save the paper.. we may have to eat it!!

Don said...

warren: i heard singing somewhere in the house and it sure got louder when I pulled the bread out. It stopped abruptly when I cut the bread...

Don said...

bob: baby in the womb?, from you Bob? I thought for sure it was a lunar event.

Don said...

gwen: I looked into my coffee grounds this morning and saw the same omen! Oh no!, Ruth tossed the parchment yesterday, and I think I saw The Four Sons of Horus running through the woods with it.

I wonder what next week's message will be?

Gwen Buchanan said...

Oh no! Ruth tossed the parchment!!! ... ohhhh that's a bad omen!!! She may have changed the future of the world!! but come to think of it... that may be a good thing...

...love the 4 sons of Horus image!!! hahaha, you're funny!

Don said...

gwen: it's all Ruth's fault. I hope the changes are for the better. It can't get a whole lot worse, generally speaking.

Now that was an interesting bit of sleuthing on the cat prints.
Don't know what's on the bread. A petroglyph, maybe?

Loring Wirbel said...

Are crowds of penitentes flocking to Meridian Road to see the miracle of the bread - or did you eat it already? ;-)

Liz said...

I see Tutankhamen.

Ginnie said...

Oh how fun! Don't we all love a good mystery and here you have two for us! I immediately saw a mummy, too! And the things even pretend-photographers do to get a GOOD picture! :) Way to go, Don.

Don said...

janie: it may be a petroglyph from the ancient green barn civilization. i have had sightings of the spirits of a young girl and an old farmer around the place!!

Don said...

loring: as soon as I saw the possibility of the miracle, I posted a sign that read, "all penitentes seeking the truth, will clean the coop." "Lie-seekers must seek elsewhere."

Don said...

loring: no trespassers to report.

Don said...

liz: Tutankhamen??!! I was hoping you would see Gwyn ap Nudd, or some such Welsh legend.

I see egyptology too...

Don said...

ginnie: I love a good mystery. I still bow to you and Ruth with your solving of the mysteries of the f stop.
